ty started a new job that he works night shift between 2 and 3 nights a week. he works for the manufacturer for glidden paints – which is easy work for him, and means mama gets a discount baby!! holla!

we’ve been visiting brammie’s pool this summer. riott, for the most part, doesn’t love the water. he doesn’t want to get in past his ankles and he definitely doesn’t want to be in where he can’t reach. my theory is he wants to be in control and it’s hard to be in control of a massive body of water, or a moving sprinkler for that matter. he can be in control of the bath – thus, he loves bath time. he can be in control at the beach where he can wade in at his own pace (and play in the sand) thus, he loves the beach. though it seems every time we go, he likes it a little more. b on the other hand is a WATER BABY all the way! the first time i put him in, he was all giggles! just splashing and playing! ahh. what a joy to have a baby that loves the water!! now he dunks his face, he fountains the pool water (ick! i know! i can’t make him stop!), and he doesn’t cry when i dunk him. pool time is so much fun!

riott

we all got the opportunity to attend my youngest brother austin’s state track meet (where he earned 2nd in state for the polevault). ever day since that track meet, riott says, “want to go watch austin! jump the high! not hit the bar!” then, he decided that talking about it wasn’t enough. ever day, he clears his bed except for his pillow and runs and jumps over the pillow, so that he too can “jump the high like austin”. most of the time he lands on his face and his body does a flip – it literally looks like he’s breaking his neck! (scary! i know!) we’re now working on jumping the high and landing on his back, to prevent any injury.

during this month we also had my cousins (11, 9, and 8yrs) over for a week of fun and play. the girls loved playing with riott and b, and the boys loved playing with them too. while we were all in riott’s room putting him to sleep one night, we read one book and bible stories like we always do. i don’t know why but i started the first sentence of the book and abruptly stopped… and riott just kept on going. unbeknownst to me, he knew the entire book of bible stories word-for-word, from memory. i couldn’t believe it! he is such a smart baby!!

he also can recite most of the Lord’s Prayer by heart since that is our prayer every day at nap time, though it usually goes something a little like this:

“our father in heaven, holy is your name. your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. thank you for mom and dad and the girls and austin and church babies and…. (mom interjects and gets him going again – “give us this day”) “give us this day our daily bread. forgive us our sins. thank you for cheese sandwich and chocolate milk. thank you for bicycle and neighbors… etc. etc. etc. love him so much!

we have found the love (and hate!) for silly bandz! these trendy little multi-colored rubber bands in the shapes of sports, animals, vehicles, etc. have become a craze for the teeny boppers all around. and  little ones love them because they can identify shapes and colors and wear them on their little arms! they are quite cute! but while riott loves his silly bandz… mama is starting to hate them! not only are they perfect tools for clutter (as if we need more clutter) because they end up every where, they also like to find their way into beckham’s mouth! in case you were wondering, it’s not fun to dig a rubber band out of a stubborn 8 month old’s mouth.

speaking of a stubborn and persistant baby, on to…

beckham

b is very stubborn. b is very very persistent. mom and the two boys usually all bathe together. usually mom sits with them and bathes the boys and then while mom showers, the  boys play in the bath water. riott and beckham both LOVE to take baths. well one day (and every day since then), beckham decides he wants the wash cloth plugging the drain – which happens to be under mom’s feet. so at first, when he’d flop on his belly and attempt to crawl down there, i’d just pick him up and put him back at the end of the tub. then i started nudging him back with my foot. eventually, after he kept trying and kept trying i thought, “well, once the water gets in his face he’ll panic and not want to go for the washcloth any more.” WRONG! he got soaked. i mean, his eyes were red from all the water that was in them and he was still going for the dang washcloth! every bath we go through this routine over and over. and then, mom found bubbles. bubbles don’t let you see what under the water! bahahaha!

on a similar note, b has fallen off the bed twice. it’s no secret that we cosleep. so b does not have rails or anything else to contain him. and he doesn’t wake up crying like riott. he usually wakes up smily and ready to get the show on the road. which means, if i don’t catch him at just the right moment, he’s usually hanging off or an inch away from falling off the bed by the time i get in the room.  we’ve done everything! i’ve stacked 3 pillows high on every side and the kid will not be contained! OR learn the lesson that the edge of the bed means the floor is near – and the floor hurts. poor baby. we’re working on a better solution so that i don’t have to run to a room filled with screaming baby sounds.

just like riott, beckham is mainly an army crawler. but don’t let that fool you. little bugger is FAST! sometimes, he goes so fast across the wood floor that his big toe makes a squeaking sound every time he pushes off. it is hilarious!! he also pulled up for the first time, against the edge of the bathtub! what in the world!?!? and on the rug that slips out from under your feet… of course he fell, and bonked his head on the wall. but he didn’t mind – because it was BATH TIME!

beckhams (as riott calls him) is starting to have a touch of separation anxiety. he loves his daddy, there’s no doubt about that. but he still loves him’s mama most. and when we’re in  a crowd and i pass him off, all it takes is ONE GLANCE and the party is over! we are in meltdown mode until mama rescues him.

one of the funniest things b does is growl. yes, growl. like a low, throaty growl. sometimes he does it when he’s playing – face to face. other times, if you’re in his way, if you have something he wants, if you’re doing something he doesn’t like he will squint his eyes and GROWL at you – along with give you a body shiver. haha! priceless!

we love our boys! they are growing and changing so much every day!! even with this blog i feel like i’m forgetting so many important details. there is no place we’d rather be than growing together as the mig family!

despite his fluffy self, we started him on baby food. i wasn’t in any rush because with riott, food wasn’t really an option until 12 months. i figured it would be the same with beckham. i was WRONG! our first food was avocado. i was jittery with excitement and had the camera ready to go to catch all the gagging, funny faces, and body shivers. to say the least, our expectations were disappointed… but we were surprised to discover that b LOVES food. devours it. he doesn’t gag. he doesn’t shiver. granted, he isn’t a garbage disposal. at about 5 spoonfulls, he’s had his fill. but he’s a quick nurser too (5 minutes flat to eat off of both sides). we did finally get a few fun shots after b was over the whole eating thing, and here they are, to share with you!

beckham is officially a growler. it’s a.dor.able. he’s been doing it for a few months but i believe this is the first i’ve posted on it. i love it. when he wants something or doesn’t want something, if you’re in his way or annoying him, he does this little body shake thing – like he’s really straining, and he’ll let a little throat rumble out of his pursed lips! boy don’t mess around!

it’s done (#1). we’ve gone from being a roller… to a scootcher. and within days of being a scootcher, we moved to an army crawler. it started with b figuring out when he pushed on the floor with his toes, he moved. once he figured that out, there was no more stationary beckham. and it was adorable to hear – as he toe scootched, we could hear the squeak of his toes pushing on the hardwoods!! squeak! squeak! squeak! we are officially mobile. b makes his way round the house. if we’re in a room he’s not, well he just figures out a way to get to us. he loves being mobile!

it’s done (#2). we went cold turkey. and bam! had lots of naked hineys around our house. okay, maybe just one, really cute, two-year-old naked hiney! we went for about 2 weeks completely naked around the house and in a pull-up in public (mom was so scared about accidents in the car seat!!!). over all, we’re pretty much finished. naps and nights are not complete yet (though we have woke up to the whispers of a 2 year old saying, “momma, i have to go peepee potty.”) but we’re pretty much in “underwears” non-stop. and we love it! riott loves the praise and independence of climbing up on the potty, doing his thing, and celebrating his potty super-powers!!! we even have a “peepee in the potty” dance!

we’ve celebrated many birthday parties, much to riott’s delight. one was his very own 1/2 birthday. we even sang, “happy 1/2 birthday to you…” he just ate it up! his cupcake that is! if he keeps up this need for birthday parties, we’ll have to start celebrating un-birthdays, re-birthdays, and 1/4 birthdays too!!

auntie katie came out for a visit during b’s 7th month and ri’s 30th month! she treated us all to a fabulous trip to the “‘quarium” as riott says. we LOVED it. no really FELL IN LOVE with the “fishies” and the sharks, turtles, penguins, all the colors of the “fishies”, etc. it was the best trip! riott still talks about it every day and we cannot wait to go again!!! THANK YOU AUNT KATIE!!!!

*** the quilt used in this photo shoot is a quilt that belongs to my “mawmaw”. it is made of fabric in which she can point to and tell me a story of what it is, where it came from; tales of another time. “…this was a dress mama made me from feed sacks, this was a pair of pajamas that [my sister] and i had a matching pair of…” we used the same quilt for riott’s 6 month shoot and plan to do the same with the rest of my chunky babes as they make their appearance. (view photos of riott at the same age and on the same blanket here.) i can’t put a value on how much it means to me to be able to connect my children to our family past in such a way. i’m honored, to say the least.

sorry this post is a bit delayed. i was waiting to do b’s 6 month photographs and it didn’t happen until he was pretty much 7 months. haha. but the point is to get him 1/2 way to a year so i figure, it’s pretty much the same.

it must be time to drive mom crazy because little b refuses to stay on his back when laying down. oh yes. he rolls on his tummy and then decides he hates it there… and can’t roll over again. sad. and not fun.

b also wakes up, spends all day, and goes to sleep mbm’ing (motorboatmouthing)… aka spitting everywhere.

i love him so much, i never want to stop cuddling… and i just want to squeeze him!! but he gets his fair share of cuddles and decides he’s had enough. so he’ll squirm and wiggle ’til i put him down to play with his big brother.

he’s sitting up all by himself for long periods of time now and that is most definitely his favorite place to be. riott of course thinks that b is big enough for big boy games so he lays on poor b, pounces around little b, wallows on baby b, and nudges sweet b NONSTOP! we have to tell him about 20 times a day to be gentle, but he loves his little brother so much he simply cannot stay away.

one of ty and i’s favorite things to do with little beckham is constant kisses. this is where we pick a spot on his face (forehead, corner of the mouth, cheek, ear, etc) and we just give a million tiny kisses in a row. the reason it is so much fun… beckham completely freezes and sits there grinning until we’re done. it’s like a stun-gun. i swear i could do it for 30 minutes and beck will not move. hahah! isn’t he the sweetest thing ever!?!?

he still has no teeth… where riott got his first tooth over a month earlier than this. developmentally, this is the only thing they have been on separate timelines for.

my first-born is getting so so big. it’s sad to see beckham and riott and think that i really can’t remember anything other than glimpses of when riott was at b’s current stage. it’s all going much too fast.

riott LOVES to be outside. he loves dirt and rocks, bugs and sunshine. he’s singing quite a bit these days, everything from “happy birthday” to “you’ve got a friend in me” (from toy story). sometimes he’ll be singing and i’ll realize what he’s singing with absolutely no clue where he learned it. he wishes everyday were a birthday party for someone, and when we really do have a birthday coming up, it’s ALL he talks about for days. anytime we bump into a stranger and they ask riott how old he is, he says with the biggest eyes and cutest voice, “two… birthday party on saturday, with cake and a fire, blow it out, candles on the birthday cake…!!!”

we’re trying really hard to inconsistently potty train… this obviously isn’t working. hahah! hopefully we’ll be able to pick a weekend soon and just GO FOR IT! bare bottomed and all. if that works, i will be in heaven only having to change one baby’s diapers.

the little sweetie-peetie beckham has hit 5 months …and is becoming more and more an angel every day!

he is still a monster, fitting into size 3 diapers and wearing mostly 6-12 months clothes.

he is such a big boy, he can sit up all by himself (for about 10 seconds and all hunched over but hey! it counts!)!!! he loves the bumbo, swing, stroller, moby wrap, propped up pillows, massive puppy dog a.k.a “choo-choo”, and anything else that allows him to sit upright.

baby B is also teething. boo. he is drooling and slobbering all over everything nonstop. we think it’ll be his vampire teeth (incisors) that come in first, but we’re not positive. though we know he’s in pain, he’s still such a happy easy child. unlike his brother, he just deals with the pain verses needing meds nonstop (he gets that from his mom!).

beckham’s absolute favorite toy of all time is his big brother riott!! if riott throws a ball, b dies laughing. if ri throws a toy AT b, b still dies laughing. if r jumps around, you can be sure little brother is giggling. anything riott does – fixing things with his tools, playing with cars, cleaning up his toys (at mom’s request), eating, dancing, etc. – little b is fixated with the bigger version of himself. speaking of, b definitely looks unique BUT everyday he resembles riott more and more. my boys are adorable!! so many mini-tylers running around makes me one happy mama!

speaking of big brother… riott is pretty much speaking in full sentences all the time now (except when he’s whining). he tells me very sweetly, “no. i don’t want to.” how can you get mad at that!?!? especially the way he talks where his voice goes up really high at the end. ugh. my daily dilemma.

he likes to imitate EVERYTHING that dad does. a couple of months ago it was warm enough to play outside so i let him run around a bit. after a few minutes i went to check on him and lo and behold, couldn’t find him anywhere. AND he wasn’t responding to my calls. so in panic mode, i drop everything and start running around the house. wanna’ know where he was? behind the house. at the fire pit. with the GAS CAN! pouring gas onto the cold, black leftover logs. why was he doing this? “dad’s fire” he told me.

what a ham. he knows just what to say…

unlike riott he:

-nurses until the milk’s gone and is done

-can be laid down to take a nap without mom having to stay in the room or nurse him down

-does not have to be bounced, moved, and shaken 24/7

-will “visit” anyone (so far) and give them an enjoyable experience with him

like riott, he:

-loves to be held, and preferably in the upright position

-has migliori gas

-wants to be in the midst of commotion all the time

-will not sleep if he thinks he might miss something important

-is SUPER ticklish. anywhere that might be a tickle spot, IS! from his toes to his neck rolls!

-is growing plumper and fluffier at the same rate. at 4 months we are weighing in at 16 POUNDS!

since he’s been able to follow anything with his eyes, he has followed his big brother. it’s insane (even as early as his second month) how much love and admiration he has for riott. now we’re already at 4 months and nothing excites him more than the blonde two-year-old who comes to play! sure he gets squished, bumped pretty hard, and poked frequently but that doesn’t matter because he gets tons of fun energy and silly faces from big brother. we can already tell they are going to be best buds!

we all love baby B so much! we can’t even remember what life was like before him (and i keep wondering what in the world i did with all of my free time). so so thankful for our littlest man.

we’re on the brink of potty training. i think i missed a window at about 21 months. he was very interested in the potty but i was too fearful to begin the process and then have a new baby come around. i didn’t want ri to spaz out and purposely pee in his pants or anything else like you hear toddlers do when a new baby comes home. and now, he’s definitely smart enough to go potty but i think i’m too lazy. the convenience of diapers is well, just so convenient. hah. but i’m sure tyler wouldn’t mind losing the cost of them. so, we’re about to make it happen. we even bought a whole new toilet seat that has 3 layers – one for adults, one for little bottoms, and the lid. it’s even a quiet close! we love it!

riott’s favorite phrase right now is “oh yes! i LOVE it!” he says this in a high-pitched voice with a huge grin on his face anytime we suggest something that he wants to do! he also picks up on EVERYTHING that we say. now it has become routine, every morning he climbs up on the bed and says, “good morning sweet mama. did you wake up!?” he says this same phrase to dad and beckham! so adorable.

he loves to dance his white boy dance. and every time he does, he accredits his teacher “karla-shaka-booty, karla-shaka-booty”. he loves anything trains (thomas, chuggington) and his favorite movies are “move it!” (aka madagascar), cars or “yightnin’ mckeen”, and “monsters” inc.

he’s learning his colors, shapes, letters, numbers (though he’s been able to count to ten since he was 22 months old), and numbers in spanish. he LOVES to color. he has ZERO patience. and he loves to play with other kids or as he says “babies”. we must see “church babies” or “mall babies” on playdates.

he is still my highstrung baby! he’s always going non-stop and he’s rarely still. just like when he was a newborn, he continues to wake up crying and moody (though this only happens about 50% of the time now) and usually the only thing that can cheer him up at any given time is “mommy kiss it” (a boo-boo) OR his favorite BABY BECKHAM!

riott loves his brother so (!!!!) much. i have never seen a child love their baby sibling more! there has been no jealousy. non-stop hugs and kisses all day long from riott to beckham!!! only one accident that really hurt beckham (riott dropped a heavy toy on him) but we calmed beckham down quickly, riott said sorry on his own, gave him kisses and everyone was just fine. and they love eachother! already! it’s amazing!!!!

we have decided that riott is a very independent child. don’t laugh. he becomes a happier person as he grows developmentally and as he is able to do more by himself, because of his decision to do it, and the way he wants to do it. he hated being a baby and relying on us for everything but he’s proved himself to be a pretty happy toddler.

we love this boy so much! he keeps us laughing, spanking, and thanking the  LORD he is in our lives!

my attention was shifted to my personal blog and facebook account thinking they were all i needed. but i now know that without updating georgiamigs, i do a shotty job of keeping up with my babies’ developmental growth! ahhh! bad mama! bad mama!!

mom is doing great! this recovery has been a breeze compared to riott’s.

riott is loving baby beckham. he kisses him NONSTOP and if ever baby B is crying, riott calls out, “Baby Beckham” real slowly… like mom does to try and sooth ’til she can get over to him. ri hasn’t shown one sign of jealousy and is increasingly enthralled with baby B. he loves his fingers, toes, eyes, and nose.

we are so blessed to have these two little boys!!!

isn’t this just the sweetest sad face you’ve ever seen?!? no i’m not always the horrible mommy that snaps photos instead of taking care of her crying baby. but in this case, ri was tantrum-ing and i was sitting right next to him with a snack and a drink… but he was unhappy nonetheless… well, for about 30 seconds in which i got some great pics.

love this little boy! even when his weather is stormy.

he loves to read to us now, instead of us reading to him. his favorites books are his bible where he points out every animal on the planet (sheep, hee-haw, pigs, fish, cows, chickens, etc.) and his No David! books. even when we’re not reading David! he’s running around yelling “No David! Trouble!”. he puts his “croc-a-doodles” (crocs) on all by himself. and loves to run around with a “naked hiney”. 

he daily gets out the swiffer and pushes it saying “mama make a mess”. he LOVES spiderman! don’t know how or why (b/c he’s never seen the show), but he does. he also loves elmo, mickey mouse, donald duck, goofy, sheep, handy manny and the tools, nemo, and CARS. he’s counting to 3 in english and spanish… or working on it. haha. and he’s getting goofier and sillier everyday. today he made up a fake laugh and did it all day long, each time fake laughing until he made himself laugh so hard for real, that he got the hiccups.
