united we stand.

yes, i know this site is dedicated to our family – updates on our family, pictures of our family, and recently video of our family. but today i felt motivated to write some thoughts on the events of last night. i am glad the election is over. though i could wish or hope that things turned out differently in one way or another, i am still proud to be a part of this monumental moment in the history of america. i hope to never be a part of a generation or crowd who is so blinded by their upbringing or perspective that i can’t see or appreciate being a part of what will one day be remembered as a pivotal moment (paradigm shift?).

we live in the south. examples of things we hear on a regular basis are: president-elect Obama is a terrorist who’s goal is to bring death and destruction into america through his evil plan starting with claiming the presidency, Obama is the anti-christ, and Obama plans to turn the US into a country of socialism. i trust none of these are true and hope Obama will be the man he’s promised to be; i pray that he’ll bring about this magical “change” he’s talked of and bring healing to our nation.

on the other side of the argument here in the south are tears of incomparable joy and answered prayers, thoughts that Obama is the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, and reading of Scripture that references reaching the “mountain top”. i am happy for these that can rejoice at such an event. however i am reminded that “we don’t base our confidence of the future on whoever gets elected… the reason we’re on planet earth is not to advocate for a particular party, we’re here to advocate for Christ, and Him crucified.” (John Piper – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFvlfc2VkN0)

yet my first thought and the saddest that crosses my mind on this day is brought about not because Obama is pro-choice, but that the african americans feel they have overcome the atrocity of slavery through this election… yet the atrocity of abortion will never reach this moment. think of the generation that’s been slaughtered just in this country – the unborn numbering the size of the state of california (remember CA holds 55 electoral votes – some states have as few as 3). it’s a cause that’s reality cannot be known in this life. there are no victims who’ve fought to survive, who can march in rallies, who can say they remember the times in which “they never thought they’d see this day”. there are the women who later realize the “choice” they made that forever changed their lives. there are the women who’ve received improper “health-care” and will never physically recover from the action that left them infertile. however the defenseless victim, the orphan, the fatherless, the unborn child who has no say, no ability to fight, their story will not be fully known here. none of them will rise from the ashes and one day claim the presidency of the United States of America.

though, i do know that Obama is not a prolifer’s nightmare – his stance on abortion is much better than the average democrat (www.prolifeproobama.com). we believe it is the responsibility of the Church (not the government) to love and care for those who feel they have no choice… to give them a choice, a home, a job, money, hope, etc.

so, with that said, we migs hope to stand up as Americans with our nation – behind this new president, trusting him in his position. we are excited to be a part of change. we will pray for Obama as he makes decisions and hope that the Lord will guide him in all his efforts.

we believe that divided we will fall.
