riott has started his fake laugh. any time we get tickled and giggle he comes back with a REAL fake laugh and usually no smile or a half smile. so it is hilarious to watch him join in to the “conversation” as he tries to keep up with the wittiness. but he really needs to work on convincing others with his face if he is going to be one to laugh when not genuinely humored.
he also, thanks to cousin jude, does a silly giggle. the day after april showed us jude’s trick, riott started doing it too. this he accomplishes when NO ONE IS LAUGHING, and he does it with his mouth closed. he sounds like a chipmunk on helium. get the picture? we’ll try to get it on video for you…
UPDATE: riott has also begun copying us in many other ways. while hanging out with cousin, she was teasing riott by continually sticking out her tongue and making a noise. you could tell riott was intently focused on her gestures, and then he started doing it too! then i started the motor-boat-mouth right next to her, his attention turned to me, and he started copying me! we went back and forth, back and forth! he’s such a smart baby!
