sorry for the delay!!! we have had such a busy time lately. tyler’s been working early nights – 5pm til sometimes 3am. then he works for edge during the day and somehow still manages to spend time with us. he left last weekend to go on a motorcycle ride up through the blue ridge mountains (i am so jealous) but it was okay b/c riott, beckie, and i got to go to milledgeville, GA for a wedding (you know tyler was green with envy!)! b/c i was asked to be the wedding planner, we had to be there (2 hours away) on Thursday by 6pm… let’s just say it only took loading half of a kitchen (beckie made the cake), busting out a screen door, and crunching the hummer mirror to get us there by 7pm. whew. what an adventure.

next, i got to lead the rehearsal, stay up until 4am to finish favors and programs, AND shoot photography for this lovely lake wedding (only stopping to offer up a boob to mr. riott). i must say we had a wonderful time with some great folks! riott wasn’t thrilled about being away from dad (and mom too) for 2 days but he did so well for Grammie.

riott’s doing so many new things! it’s sad b/c every time he does something new, he stops doing something old. <sniff, sniff> however, one thing he’s moved beyond – that i am SO thankful for is… he was going from the sitting position to his knees (on all fours) then to his belly. it was awful only b/c he ONLY wants to be upright… so he’d get on his belly and whine, moan, groan, scream, etc. until mom came and sat him back up (which would happen about 75 times each day)! finally – he’s going from sitting, to his knees, to his belly, PLANKING ON HIS TOES (the pushup position), BACK TO ALL FOURS, AND ON TO THE SITTING POSITION!!! waaahoooo! we have a video, tyler will upload it soon. our little boy is growing up!

his favorite toy is currently a little step-stool we bought from ikea. $3.50 goes a long way with a little boy who wants to be all over everything but is stuck in one place (for now). below you’ll see some recent pics. NO RIOTT DOES NOT HAVE RED HAIR. haha! it looks like it in certain lights but so did tyler’s as a baby. sometimes it looks red, sometimes blonde, and sometimes brown. he’s a talented boy!

i feel like a spoiled little brat – but having a baby is SO much fun, partly b/c they’re always changing and growing so fast that we ALWAYS get to learn about and buy new stuff (consignment is new too!). on top of riott’s continual wardrobe makeover, we’ve recently:

-bought the book Super Baby Food in order to learn how to make our own baby food… also, checkin’ out the site: Make Homemade Baby Food Recipes, Homemade Baby Food Recipes, Solid Food Baby Tips, Baby Nutrition & more!

-researching and purchased two cloth diapers for testing, now to build the stash!

-bought baby swim stuff for hot summer days at the pool including (but not limited to) swim diapers, sunglasses, blue lizard sunscreen (thanks tonia!), a fishing hat, swimming trunks, a baby float-y, swim toys… (pictures to come soon!)

-bought The Vaccine Book and The Baby Book from the Dr. Sears library to learn more about shots and attachment parenting

-bought a co-sleeper so that riott could no longer take up literally HALF of the king sized bed!

riott’s only 6.5 months old and he’s getting crazier every single day. just two days ago, he bit mom’s arm (his favorite chew toy) so hard that the imprint was purple and the marks stayed for 24 hours! ouch! i think he’s saying “ma ma” and knows who he’s talking to, but tyler thinks he’s just babbling (imagine that). so far he’s tried: rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, cantaloupe, apple, banana, and cherrios. surprisingly, he’s not into solids so much… yet! we know it will only be a matter of time!

BABIES ARE SO MUCH FUN!!! WE CAN’T GET ENOUGH!

here’s why i asked. i debated on whether or not to do this… because LIKE our sweet, ever-so emo, funky fresh brother-in-law zach, i have attempted this journaling thing before – resulting in about 15 used journals, none of which are full. on the other hand, UNLIKE our sweet, ever-so emo, funky fresh brother-in-law zach, i am not quite as skilled with words and witty-ness, even though i do love to write, creatively. so to “journal” (in a sense) and then leave my words out in the open for others to read and (quite likely) criticize, is a daunting task. ugh. but for the sake of updating the local and long distanced family, and because it’s so fun to pick a background to represent you here we are, at georgiamigs.com (thanks to our sweet, ever-so emo, funky fresh brother-in-law zach). we plan on sharing with pictures and stories that are much of our daily lives… leaving nothing to the imagination (okay maybe a little). feel free to comment or not, laugh or not, or talk about us behind our webpage (or not). soon we hope to: make this blogging thing a habit, change the background, and force tyler to occasionally blog (yeah… riiight.)
